One of the most iconic names in sports cars, the Toyota Supra traces its roots all the way back to the late seventies. The first generation of the legendary nameplate only lasted a couple of years, but it underwent a few generational shifts before resulting in the fourth and, seemingly, final generation in 1993. That model was around until the nameplate was discontinued in 2002, and sports car enthusiasts around the globe wept. But in 2019, our dreams finally came true, as Toyota developed and produced a brand-new version of the icon better than we could’ve hoped for. Now, a couple of years later, the 2021 Toyota GR Supra looks to continue building its legacy here in the Glendale, CA, area.
Despite the fact that the Supra only just made its return in 2019, Toyota was already ready to ramp things up and continue providing even more from the Supra nameplate. That’s why they’ve not only introduced the new GR Supra 2.0, which is the first Supra model ever to be powered by a 4-cylinder engine, but also the exciting and limited A91 Edition models.
The first 1,000 Supra models for the 2021 model year will be these special limited-edition models, featuring the 3.0L inline-six engine, a choice of two exterior colors in Nocturnal or Refraction, and a host of other unique design cues and extra features. Refraction is a new color for the Supra and it will be exclusive to the A91 Edition.
As for the GR Supra 2.0, this new model will be powered by a 2.0L inline four-cylinder engine. While the engine does benefit from many of the same technologies found in its big sibling, it offers a bit less power in favor of a more affordable price point. This new engine is capable of generating 255 horsepower alongside 295 pound-feet of torque and will – according to Toyota estimates – be able to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in 5 seconds flat.
