When you get a new or used vehicle you want to have the peace of mind that you are protected if something goes wrong. That’s why new and used vehicles come with a vehicle warranty. A warranty is a promise from the manufacturer that they will cover the costs of parts and labor to fix faults that occur during the warranty period. There are different warranties for new vehicles, hybrid vehicles, certified used vehicles, and accessories.

New Vehicle Warranty

Toyota offers every new vehicle a basic coverage that covers all components and maintenance items for 36 months/36,000 miles. On top of the basic coverage, Toyota offers powertrain coverage, rust-through coverage and emissions coverage. The powertrain coverage covers the engine, transmission/transaxle, front-wheel-drive system, rear-wheel drive, seatbelts, and airbags for 60 months/60,000 miles. Rust-through coverage covers corrosion perforation of sheet metal for 60 months/unlimited miles. Emissions coverage varies under Federal and California regulations.

Hybrid Warranty

Each Hybrid model comes with a hybrid battery warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles. However, any 2020 and newer hybrid models have an increased coverage of 10 years or 150,000 miles. The hybrid-related components coverage covers the HV battery, battery control module, hybrid control module and inverter with converter. Hybrid vehicles also come with the powertrain coverage, rust-through coverage and emission coverage options.

Accessories Warranty

All Toyota Genuine Parts come with a 12-month coverage plan. This plan is longer than most coverage plans that are offered by other companies. If an accessory is bought at the same time as a new vehicle purchase, the warranty increases to 36 months/36,000 miles. This warranty starts at the vehicle’s in-service date. Accessories bought after the new vehicle purchase get the 12 month coverage from the date it was installed or for the remainder of the applicable new vehicle warranty.

Toyota Certified Used Vehicle Warranty

Every Toyota certified used vehicle comes with a 12-month/12,000 mile limited comprehensive warranty starting at the date of purchase. Toyota certified used hybrid vehicles also still receive the 8-year/100,000 mile Factory Hybrid Vehicle Battery Warranty. Toyota certified used vehicles also receive a 7-year/100,000 limited powertrain warranty. Components covered by this warranty include engine components, manual transmission, automatic transmission, axle assembly components and hybrid components.
